UFO CASE REPORT - MAY 23, 2001
Appended February 17, 2008
ALLEN PARK, MICHIGAN - TRIANGLE SIGHTING
JET AIRCRAFT MECHANIC ENCOUNTERS MASSIVE, SILENT, FLYING TRIANGLE on MAY 23, 2001, OVER MICHIGAN I-94 INTERSTATE
BY DARRYL BARKER*
Figure 1. The witness submitted this snapshot of the area along I-94 where he observed the triangular object, enormous and silent; so low to the ground that he thought an airliner was about to crash on top of him. Witness has used White-Out to draw in the lights as observed on the tips of the triangle. Click photo to enlarge.
In July, 2002, I received an e-mail from a resident of Allen Park, Michigan. A phone conversation ensued and the witness described the following experience. The man, herein known as Mr. J., is a jet aircraft mechanic of 30 years, and is currently employed as such. On May 23, 2001, he was driving home from the job at approximately 1:30am on the eastbound I-94 expressway and had exited onto M-39 South Field Road when he sighted, through the front windshield of his truck, three very bright white lights ahead of him. The object was unmistakably triangle-shaped and extended beyond the width of both north and south bound lanes of M-39, at an altitude approximated between 500 and 1,000 feet. Mr. J. told me that his years of experience working around aircraft (including the military), left him with the feeling that this aerial object was not an airplane. The object passed directly over his vehicle and although Mr.J. rolled the window down and listened for a sound, there was no sound from the object.

At the time Mr. J. and I spoke on the phone, I was not engaged in posting any information regarding flying triangle sightings that were was not directly related to the January 5, 2000 Illinois case. Due to my recent posting of supporting cases on this website, I contacted Mr. J. again on October 22, 2003, and he agreed to a recorded audio report. Mr. J's case is consistent with those of other witnesses who have been sending me reports from the Northern Illinois and Michigan areas. This report, like the January 5, 2000 case, is unmistakably indicative of an ongoing overflight by an airship of large proportions. The contention that these sightings are the products of eager imagination is no longer acceptable. The real question is, what is in our airspace that no one in an official capacity wants to acknowledge?
Figure 4. Cleaned up figure 1 from above for purpose of illustration. The witness states the UFO passed directly over his car.

MEDIA NOTES:
On July 23, 2002, the National Institute for Discovery Science, NIDS, proposed a hypothesis that the UFO seen over Illinois on January 5, 2000, was a U.S. Department of Defense, "Black Program" aircraft. The public must be reminded that although the media may portray NIDS' report as a solution to this case, it is not a solution; it is a hypothesis.
9/4/04 UPDATE: We are pleased to see the latest August, 2004 reassessment of the flying triangle enigma by the people at NIDS at: http://www.nidsci.org/articles/8_25trireport.php NIDS' cumulative mapping of triangle sightings across the United States is cause for some serious concern by the United States government and the U.S. military.
